Duties:
- Manage all aspects of projects from start to finish, including estimating and developing project scope
- Serve as primary point of contact for assigned projects and verify all terms and obligations are maintained
- Review all contracts, specifications, drawings and correspondence to efficiently plan and execute project’s scope of work
- Plan and execute work procedures, monitor project schedules and conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets specifications and project is on track
- Notify project team of potential delays and, if issues arise, meet with customers and vendors to resolve problems to maximize production and minimize costs
- Enter and manage client data using Cobalt’s CRM software
- Prepare monthly cost reports for each project and report on invoicing activity
Qualifications:
- Minimum three years’ experience as a Project Manager; experience in steel and fabrication preferred
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication and installation process, requirements and procedures
- Proficient at reading engineering, architectural and other drawings and specifications
- Proven sales and estimating track record
- Post secondary education in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
- Computer literacy, including MS Office

Duties:
- Review and analyze documents and proposals to prepare pricing, including interpreting architectural and structural drawings, written specifications and contract documents
- Assist with pre-qualification submissions, RFQ’s, RFP’s and RFI’s
- Coordinate with suppliers and sub-trades to compile full competitive estimates within timelines
- Complete estimates received through verbal or written communication with customers
- Ensure accuracy and maintain up-to-date estimating data systems
- Interpret and apply necessary Manitoba Building Code standards
- Create shop drawings for products and review project site prior to estimate
- Comply with Cobalt’s Workplace Heath and Safety policies at all times
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year experience as an Estimator in a steel and fabrication environment
- Strong knowledge of steel and fabrication estimating, installation, grades and coating types

Duties:
- Perform quality take-off from construction drawings (where applicable)
- Interpret and apply Manitoba Building Code standards
- Create shop drawings for products and interpret field dimensions
- Review project site prior to price preparation (as required)
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of tender submissions
- Maintain and update estimating data systems
- Proactively anticipate, troubleshoot and mitigate bottlenecks and issues
- Maintain and operate CNC equipment, including set up to perform repetitive operations
- Identify opportunities to increase time/cut time usage for programming and nesting jobs
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of experience as a CNC Programmer/Drafter
- Experience in steel and fabrication estimating, installation requirements, steel grades and coating types; preference for large general contractors/ developers
- Well versed in blue print interpretations and details
- Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication materials
- Proficient in programming and nesting all CNC equipment; Solid Works and other CAD programming

Job Opening for Welder/Millwright/Mechanic
Cobalt Industries Ltd. is looking for dynamic individuals to join our expanding facility in Portage la Prairie, MB.
Terms: Monday to Friday from 8 am – 5 pm. NO SHIFT WORK. There will be out of town work required. Some out of town work will require employee to stay overnight with lodgings provided. Overtime may be required in the evenings and on weekends depending on company work load.
Preferred Experience: Experience in welding, fabrication, mechanics, machining, construction, and general labor. Valid certifications such as Journeyman status, Canadian Welding Bureau tickets, etc. are an asset. Valid driver license is required.
Physical Requirements: Attention to detail, bending, kneeling, crouching, standing, sitting, walking, lifting.
Skills & Attributes Required: Speak, read and write English, excellent communication skills (verbal and written), ability to build credibility and strong partnerships at all levels, punctual, hard-working, problem solving skills, ability to work under minimal supervision, desire to continuously upgrade knowledge and skills in trade, leadership skills
Compensation: Based on experience, benefits after standard 3 month probationary period
Duties: Duties include welding and fabricating, grinding, cutting, breaking, shearing, lifting, job preparation, operating machining tools for fabricating parts, operating hoists and other lifting machinery such as forklifts, and other duties as required.
